Modern temple

A design that celebrates community. A vibrant hub for collective devotion, creating a journey for individual awakening.

The design of this small temple project blends spirituality with modernity, embracing Hindu principles with contemporary architecture to create a sacred space for today’s progressive community.

Guided by the ancient wisdom of Hindu temple architecture, our modern sanctuary is more than just a place of worship—it’s a vibrant hub where devotees gather, connect, and find solace in collective devotion. It touches all five elements of nature—earth, water, sky, fire, and spirit/ether to awaken the mind, body and soul in every design element.

The steps at the front transform into a space for the community to meet and gather on a daily basis, fostering bonds and strengthening connections. The roof form serves a dual purpose, functioning as both a green roof and a water harvesting element, incorporating aspects of sustainability present in all Hindu temples across centuries. The waterbody along the circumambulatory (pradakshina path) creates a sense of serenity and calm, away from the chaos of everyday life.

As one traverses through the temple, there’s a continuous change in light levels, from the outside to the inside, through the circumambulatory path, and finally to the garbhagriha or the inner sanctum, creating a journey of spiritual enlightenment and awakening.
