Landscape design

A harmonious blend of safety, tradition, and amplified natural beauty for a unique religious landscape.

This project is designed to enhance the visitor experience at the unique cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in Sirvel village. Nestled beside a mesmerizing waterfall, this temple attracts visitors from its rural district and beyond. However, the steep and challenging topography has made access dangerous.

Our design aims to create a safe and enriching journey for all visitors. We’ve introduced an information center and permanent outdoor exhibition to guide tourists and added essential amenities such as washrooms and drinking water facilities. A new pedestrian path ensures safe and clarified circulation, allowing the many visitors to comfortably reach the temple.

Inspired by traditional Indian temples, the design incorporates the concept of circumambulatory movement, changing light and enclosure in its architecture and form. Recurring visual frames, reminiscent of the stepwells like Adalaj ni Vav, guide the journey as one walks down the steps. A parametric roof form serves as a forecourt, with mirrored panels mimicking rock surfaces that further amplify the natural landscape.
